RN3, AA-SANE
Rush University Medical Center
Chicago, Illinois
I was born in India and did most of my education in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. I earned two bachelors one in Biology and one in Nursing Science from Queen’s University. After graduation, my first job was at the University Health Network where I floated between the Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical Department. I fell in love with the Emergency Department during my orientation and took a job at Toronto General Hospital. I love the unpredictability, teamwork and dynamic environment of the ED. Soon my husband got a job in Chicago and luckily my job is quite easily transferable. After moving to Chicago, I was hired at Rush ER. I am currently working as a staff nurse and sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) at Rush University Medical Center. I have worked there for 6 years. I am also currently in school at Rush University Medical Center, studying to become Doctor of Nursing Practice – Family Nurse Practitioner and I am working with Rush SANE coordinator and facilitator Anna Candoleza and another colleague Brittany Duvall on the QI project that I will be presenting at the IAFN.
