Nancy Downing, PhD, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P, FAAN, is an associate professor in the Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing at Texas A&M University. She teaches in the MSN Forensic Nursing program and researches the intersections between trauma, abuse, substance use, and related health outcomes. She has been a practicing forensic nurse for 20 years and serves on several state and national committees whose focus is to strengthen the integrity and quality of forensic nursing science and practice, including the Texas Forensic Science Commission, the NIST OSAC Forensic Nursing Subcommittee, and the Joyful Heart Foundation National Council of Leadership and Innovation.
