Marni Dodd is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Forensics from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She is a Certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for adults, adolescents, and pediatrics (SANE-A and SANE-P). Dr. Dodd is an Assistant Professor at Georgia Southwestern State University in the FNP Program. She works for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) in the Stephanie V. Blank Center for Safe and Healthy Children conducting forensic medical exams and caring for victims of physical and sexual abuse, human trafficking, and neglect. Dr. Dodd’s research at CHOA has focused on the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC). She serves as a content expert and trainer for the Georgia Forensic Nursing Network, a HRSA grant-funded initiative with Emory University. She is an active participant in local and statewide multidisciplinary teams and peer case reviews. She served as a co-administrator/program coordinator for a community-based, nurse-led SANE program in Athens, GA prior to her work at CHOA. She is an active member on the statewide taskforce for sexual assault and human trafficking through the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) assisting with protocol development and implementation to promote best practice across Georgia. Dr. Dodd served on the Commission for Forensic Nursing Certification (CFNC) through the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) for the past six years, including Chair for four of the six years.
