Dr. Bettina Riley is an Associate Professor in the Community/Mental Health Nursing Department of the University of South Alabama (USA) College of Nursing. She received her BSN from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2005 and her PhD from UAB in 2011. Dr. Riley's research interests include: Communication in Families – Risk Behavior and Knowledge, Reducing mental health disparities in adolescents, adults, elders, and their families, Substance Use – Opioid and Alcohol, Caregiving, Mental Illness Stigma, Professional Stereotypes, Active Learning Strategies
Team-Based Learning, simulation, and more. Dr. Riley is currently working on three grant-funded research projects and is the Director of USA CON ECHO, with a focus on integrated healthcare. She has several publications and an extensive teaching history. Dr. Riley was the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award for the University of South Alabama College of Nursing in 2018.
