The presenters will explore the experience of being "other" in Forensic Nursing, and the ways diverse lived experiences impact professional practice and enhance patient care.

  • recognizing current disparities of diverse representation in the field of forensic nursing and the personal effects this has on practitioners and direct patient care.
  • the ways inclusion in forensic nursing can promote recruitment, retention, and professional engagement to enhance the overall forensic nursing experience.
  • the need to examine implicit biases and challenge existing structural barriers to practice in order to minimize professional inequities to foster a stronger and more resilient forensic nursing community.
