Serena Valino MSN, RN, CEN, TNS, SANE-A began her nursing career after obtaining her bachelor's degree from Loyola University’s Marcilla Neihoff’s School of Nursing. Having spent years practicing in nursing in a med surg/telemetry unit, critical care, and the operating room until Serena decided to pursue specialization in Emergency Medicine, Trauma, and Forensic Nursing in Loyola University’s Level 1 Trauma Department. In 2018, Serena obtained her master’s degree in Nurse Executive Leadership at Benedictine University and began her career in management shortly thereafter.
Serena's passion is developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating systems to help further advance patient care and interdisciplinary collaboration and actively sits on several different committees at the local, regional, and state levels. Serena is currently focused on building a forensic program that encompasses Stroger Cook County Hospital, Provident Hospital, and the Cook County Department of Corrections. Serena Valino currently oversees education and daily operations at one of the busiest emergency departments in Chicago, Stroger Cook County Hospital and Health Systems and hopes to continue to advance the field of forensic nursing by publishing on several quality improvement and research projects.
