Jennifer Sonsiadek has worked for SLHS since 2000 in the areas of
Intensive Care, the Emergency Department, and Critical Care. She is an
adjunct professor for Saint Luke’s College of Health Sciences at Rockhurst
University for Introduction to Forensic Nurses and for University of
Missouri Kansas City in the Criminal Justice Department.
She been a SANE/Forensic Nurse for since 2008 and has provided
thousands of forensic exams to patient’s that have experienced sexual
assault, domestic/intimate partner violence, human trafficking,
asphyxiation assault, child abuse/neglect, elder abuse/neglect, and assault.
Between 2011 and 2015, she was the Kansas City Sexual Assault Nurse
Examiner (KC SANE) Program Manager for Truman Medical Centers.
She completed a Master of Science in Nursing with a Specialization in
Forensic Nursing in 2019 and is currently pursuing her Doctorate of
Nursing Practice.
She is an expert in sexual assault, neurobiology of trauma, trauma
informed care for the enslaved/trafficked youth and adult, asphyxiation
assault injuries, and has trained more than 5000 police officers,
prosecutors, advocates, and health care professionals in anatomy,
physiology, assessment, and documentation of strangulation, choking,
and suffocation and provides expert testimony.
