Dr. Heather DeVore has worked for SLHS since 2016 as an Attending
Emergency Physician. She is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor for
University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. Dr. DeVore
transitioned into the role of SLHS Clinical Forensic Medical Director in
2021.
Dr. DeVore is an expert in medical forensic. She has published several
peer-reviewed studies, provided expert testimony for the United States
Supreme Court and assisted with testimony to the Missouri Attorney
General’s Public Hearings for the Missouri Rights of Victim’s of Sexual
Assault Task Force in September of 2021. She has provided lectures and
presentations on topics ranging from strangulation to sexual assault. In
2010, Dr. DeVore was awarded the “Justice for Victims of Crime” Award
by the Department of Justice United States Attorney’s Office for the
District of Columbia. In 2022, she was awarded the Patron Award from
the International Association of Forensic Nurses.
