Dr. Kako joined University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) College of Nursing as a tenure-track faculty member in the fall of 2008 after completing her PhD in Nursing. Before joining UWM, Dr. Kako held multiple staff nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner positions in various health care facilities, in South Eastern Wisconsin. She was also the coordinator for community partnerships for a major health care system in South Eastern Wisconsin, where she helped develop a consortium model as a means of increasing health care access for under-served populations through school-based health clinics.
Dr. Kako program of research is focused on advancing knowledge about the experiences and needs of vulnerable populations including women who have experienced and are living with violence within the context of limited resources. I have expertise in conducting qualitative research with vulnerable populations.
